中文的幾分熟用數字代表，
但英文的幾分熟該怎麼說呢？
Sofia 辦理完飯店的入住後 (如何用英文辦理入住？請見來人，幫本宮訂房！娘娘您要的是 room 還是 suite？)，決定前往飯店的餐廳。
她早就聽說這家飯店的牛排特別好吃了！來吧，跟著 Sofia 前去餐廳！
(Sofia sits down and calls for a server.)
(Sofia 坐下然後叫來一位服務生。)
Server: Good day, ma’am. I will be your server today. What would you like to order?
服務生：日安，女士。我今日為您服務。您想點些什麼呢？
Sofia: I’ve heard that the steak here comes highly recommended, and I’d like to see for myself if it lives up to the hype. I’ll have the filet steak.
Sofia：我聽說你們這裡的牛排很推 … 好吧，讓我來看看真假。我要一份菲力牛排。
Server: Certainly, ma’am. How would you like your steak done?
服務生：沒問題，女士。您的牛排要幾分熟？
Sofia: Medium-well please.
Sofia：麻煩七分熟。
Server: What sauce would you like?
服務生：您想要哪種醬汁？
Sofia: What would you recommend?
Sofia：你推薦哪種？
Server: I’d recommend the red wine sauce or the garlic butter sauce.
服務生：我推薦紅酒醬和大蒜奶油醬。
Sofia: Garlic? Bleurgh! I hate garlic. I’ll have the red wine sauce.
Sofia：大蒜？噁！我討厭大蒜。我要紅酒醬。
Server: No problem. Would you like something to drink?
服務生：沒問題。您想點些飲品嗎？
Sofia: A glass of Cabernet Sauvignon.
Sofia：一杯卡本內蘇維濃。
Server: Sure. I’ll be back with your order soon.
服務生：好的。我將很快送上您的餐點。

server (n.) 服務生
server 等同於 waiter，意思都是「服務生」。server 源自於動詞 serve，意思是「服侍」。
The server tripped and spilled juice all over the table.
服務生絆了一跤，把果汁都灑到了桌上。
How would you like your steak? 你的牛排要幾分熟？
服務生絕對不是在問你「你喜歡你的牛排嗎？」，而是在問你「你的牛排要幾分熟？」
這句話原先完整的句子是 How would you like your steak cooked/done?，後頭接的動詞 cooked 和 done 為過去分詞，整句話直翻的意思為「你想要你的牛排被如何料理 / 煎多熟？」
medium (adj.) 五分熟
medium-rare (adj.) 三分熟的
medium-well (adj.) 七分熟的
medium 為「五分熟」，它本來就能拿來指「適中的；中等的；中等熟度的」。後頭加個 well 等於加了兩分熟度，變成 medium-well「七分熟」；加上 rare 則是減去兩分熟度，變成 medium-rare「三分熟」，rare 指「半熟的；稀罕的；稀疏的」。
Medium-well steak will have a hint of pink inside.
七分熟的牛排內部會呈現些微地淡粉色。
sauce (n.) 醬汁
所以我說那個醬汁呢？sauce 就是「醬汁」，比如：tomato sauce (番茄醬)、chili sauce (辣椒醬)、basil pesto sauce (羅勒青醬)、savory sauce (鹹醬)、sweet sauce (填醬)、soy sauce (醬油)。
My sister prefers eating fries with tomato sauce but I prefer garlic sauce.
我姐姐吃薯條偏好沾番茄醬，但我比較喜歡大蒜醬。
牛排來啦！來聽聽 Sofia 是怎麼評價的？
Sofia: (cutting the steak) This is not what I ordered! Server!
Sofia：(切牛排) … 這不是我點的啊！服務生！
Server: (coming) Yes ma’am?
Server：(前來) 女士，有何吩咐？
Sofia: I ordered a medium-well steak, but this is clearly well-done!
Sofia：我點的是七分熟的牛排，但這顯然是全熟！
Server: There seems to have been a mistake. I do apologize.
服務生：看來出錯了。我為此致歉。
Sofia: Of course you should apologize.
Sofia：你是該抱歉。
Server: Please allow me to ask the chef to make you another one.
服務生：請讓我去請大廚重做一份。
Sofia: (sigh) Go.
Sofia：(嘆氣) 去吧。
(After 20 minutes, the server comes back with a fresh steak.)
(二十分鐘後，服務生端來了新一盤牛排。)
Server: Ma’am, I sincerely apologize for our mistake. This time we’ve made sure it is medium-well.
服務生：女士，我為我們的錯誠摯向您致歉。這一次我們很肯定是七分熟。
Sofia: It’d better be. (Cutting and having a bite) Mmm… well, you do cook a very good steak.
Sofia：最好如此。(切了一口放進嘴) 嗯… 這個嘛，你們的確是很會煎牛排。
Server: Thank you for your praise, ma’am. To compensate for our mistake, we would like to offer you dessert on the house.
服務生：感謝您的美言，女士。為了彌補我們的錯誤，我們想提供您一份甜點。本店招待。
太不專業了！竟然會做錯餐點，不過 Sofia 因此得到了一份免費招代的甜點，也算因禍得福哦！來複習單字吧！
well-done (adj.) 全熟的
well-done 為形容詞，指牛排「全熟的」。你或許聽過某人對你說 Well done! 那不是在說你熟透了，而是在稱讚你「做得好」！

全熟的牛排內部呈現棕色Well done son! You’ve done so well on your test!
做得好啊，兒子！你考試考得真好！
compensate (v.) 彌補
compensate 意指「彌補；補償；賠償」，常搭配介系詞 for 表示為了某事物所做的補償。
Jimmy binge watched the series on Netflix to compensate for missing it while preparing for the college entrance exam.
Jimmy 狂看 Netflix，彌補他準備大學入學考試期間錯過的影集。
on the house (phr.) 店家招待
聽到 on the house 時你就要開心了！注意：這句話不能從字面解讀為「在屋子上」，而是指「店家招待」！其中 house 指的是「店家」、「商家」。
The soup is on the house; you won’t need to pay for it.
湯是店家招待的，你不需要付。
