身為好哥哥代表的 Bob 義不容辭出手教弟弟，先學會以下三個關於電腦文書軟體的常見字詞，然後一起參與他的教學過程吧！

change the font 改變字體
font 為名詞，意思是「字體」，change the font 即為「改變字體」。補充：font size (字體大小)、font style (字體風格)。
I didn’t like any of the default fonts in Word so I downloaded a new one
我不喜歡 Word 的預設字體所以就下載了一個新的。
AutoSave (n.) 自動存取
AutoSave 為 Microsoft 系列軟體的一項功能，由 automatically (自動地) 和 save (存取；儲存) 兩字組成，指的即是「自動存取」功能。
Bob always turns on AutoSave when he opens a new Word file.
Bob 每開啟一個新的 Word 檔案，一定都會打開自動存取功能。
make a table 製作表格
這裡的 table 指的並不是「桌子」，而是「表格」，因此 make a table 指的也不是「製作一張桌子」，而是「製作表格」。表格中，橫排的「列」稱為 row，直排的「欄」則是 column。
Jimmy made a three-by-three table.
Jimmy 做了一個三列、三欄的表格。
Bob 的教學開始了！
Bob: Don’t worry, Jimmy, I’ll help you. What is the title of your homework?
Bob：別擔心，Jimmy，我會幫你。作業的標題是什麼？
Jimmy: Um… “The Most Unforgettable Summer.”
Jimmy：嗯…「最難忘的暑假」。
Bob: Very well, then first you type the title right here at the start …
Bob：很好，那麼你先在最一開始這裡打上標題…
Jimmy: (typing) This font looks terrible!
Jimmy：(打字) 這字體也太醜！
Bob: If you want to change the font, just click here. There’s plenty of others to choose from.
Bob：如果你想改變字體，只要點選這裡就有很多其他字體可以選。
Jimmy: (clicking) Much better!
Jimmy：(點選) 好多了！
Bob: Alright, and before you start, you better turn on AutoSave so that you won’t lose anything.
Bob：好，在你開始前，你最好先開啟自動存取，這樣你才不會遺失檔案。
Jimmy: What’s AutoSave?
Jimmy：什麼是自動存取？
Bob: It saves your file automatically. Hence the name “AutoSave.”
Bob：它會自動幫你儲存檔案，所以才叫「自動存取」。
Jimmy: I see… And how do I make a table? I want to have a table at the beginning.
Jimmy：我懂了…還有我要怎麼製作表格？我想要在一開頭放個表格。
Bob: That’s simple. Click here. How many rows and columns do you want?
Bob：很簡單。點這裡。你要多少列、多少欄？
Jimmy 自己也很有想法呢！接著學習以下三個關於文書處理的英文字詞吧！
line spacing (n.) 行距
space 意指「空間」，line spacing 指的即是 the space between each line，也就是「行間的空間；行距」。補充：動詞 double-space 意思是「使擁有兩倍行高」。
My friend suggested that I double-space my essay, but my teacher wouldn’t allow us to change the line spacing.
我朋友建議我把報告調成兩倍行高，但我的老師不允許我們改變行距。
footnotes 註腳
footnotes 意思為「註腳」，常搭配 insert 這個動詞，意指「安插；插入」，例如：insert an image (插入圖片)。
Footnotes are included in the word count.
這字數涵蓋註腳內容。
track changes (n.) 追蹤修訂
track 意指「追蹤；記錄」，change 表示「更動；修改；修訂」，track changes 指的即是文書軟體的「追蹤修訂」功能。Google 文件的「追蹤修訂」功能則是稱為 suggesting (建議操作)。
Jimmy used track changes to edit Michael’s essay.
Jimmy 用追蹤修訂來編輯 Michael 的論文。
單字都記好了嗎？開始囉！
(An hour later)
(一小時後)
Jimmy: Look! I’ve written 500 words!
Jimmy：你看！我完成了五百字！
Bob: Great! Oh wait, you said that your teacher will check it online and send it back to you, right?
Bob：太棒了！噢等等，你說你的老師會在線上改好然後寄給你，對吧？
Jimmy: Yeah, so?
Jimmy：對啊，怎麼了？
Bob: I would suggest changing the line spacing to 1.5. This will make it easier to read.
Bob：我建議你把行高調成 1.5 倍，會比較好讀。
Jimmy: Okay.
Jimmy：好。
Bob: And what are these brackets about? There’re so many!
Bob：還有這些括號是幹嘛的？有好多！
Jimmy: Oh, it’s because I want to add some supplementary information.
Jimmy：喔，那是因為我想補充說明。
Bob: Maybe you should put those pieces of extra information in footnotes. Click here, and and you can insert footnotes.
Bob：或許你可以把它們挪到註腳。點這裡就可以插入註腳。
(15 minutes later)
(15 分鐘後)
Jimmy: All done!
Jimmy：都完成了！
Bob: Good job! Now you could send it to your teacher. I assume she’ll use track changes to check your homework and leave some comments.
Bob：很棒！現在可以寄給你老師了。我想她應該會用追蹤修訂改作業、寫評論。
Jimmy: What’s that?
Jimmy：那是什麼？
