(X) My mood is bad today.
mood 的意思是「心情;情緒」,如果想表達自己心情不好,別直翻成 My mood is bad,英文會說 be in a good/bad mood,來表示自己處於心情好/不好的狀態中。補充 moody 是形容詞,指人「喜怒無常的」。
A: You’d better stop bugging Mendy.
A: 你最好別再煩 Mendy 了。B: What happened to her?
B: 她怎麼了嗎?A: She’s in a really bad mood because she got dumped yesterday and failed today’s exam.
A: 她今天心情很不好,因為她昨天被甩了,而且今天考試也沒過。B: Double whammy…
B: 真是禍不單行…A: Here she comes! Shush!

我覺得不自在 I feel out of place.
(X) I don’t feel free.
去到不熟悉的地方總會讓人覺得不自在、綁手綁腳的,要表達這種「不自在」可別說 I don’t feel free.,因為 free 這個字是表示「自由的」,應該說 I feel out of place.,表示覺得格格不入。
A: Let’s go, I’ve had enough.
A: 我已經想回家了。B: What? We just got here! Let’s get hammered!
B: 為什麼?我們才剛到耶,一起喝個爛醉嘛!A: Nah, I feel a bit out of place. The music is so loud and the whole place is just noisy.
A: 不,我覺得有點不自在,這音樂好大聲又好吵。B: Hey, buddy, you just need to relax. Cheers!
B: 兄弟,你只是需要放鬆一下,乾杯!A: Lying in bed doing nothing is relaxing. Not this.
A: 讓我放鬆的方法就是躺在床上什麼都不做啊。不是這個。

(X) I have enough!
雷隊友常讓你崩潰嗎?要怎麼跟他說「我受夠了」呢?有些人可能會想到 I have enough! 但這個說法會有時態問題,因為在說「我受夠了」時,你其實已經忍受了很多事,忍到最後一刻才爆發,所以應該要使用現在完成式:I’ve had it! / I’ve had enough!。
A: Hey, George, can you grab me a beer?
A: 欸 George,幫我拿一杯飲料可以嗎?B: Here you go.
B: 給你。A: Can you put some ice in it? Where’s the straw? And could you grab me some snacks while you’re up there…
A: 你應該幫我加點冰塊的啊,而且吸管呢?噢對了,順便幫我拿些零食…B: I’ve had enough of you! Go get it yourself, you lazy so-and-so!
B: 我受夠了!別這麼懶好不好,自己走去拿!A: Alright, alright!
A: 好啦好啦!
好丟臉 I’m so embarrassed.
(X) I lost my face.
人生在世不免丟臉,舉凡認錯人、在電梯放屁等,都會讓人想挖洞鑽進去,但這種「丟臉」可別翻成 lose my face,正確說法是 lose face,不用加上所有格,而且 lose face 比較是指讓人「沒面子」,如果要形容丟臉的狀況,可以說 I’m so embarrassed. 來表示尷尬、丟臉的感覺。
A: Oh my God! I’m so embarrassed!
A: 噢天哪!我實在是太丟臉了!B: What? I’ve been looking for you for a while!
B: 蛤?我找你找了好一陣子欸!A: I wanted to prank you, so I hid behind the door then jumped out to scare you.
A: 我剛剛想整你,所以就躲在門後跳出來嚇你。B: Did you get the wrong person again?
B: 你又認錯人了嗎?A: Yeah… so embarrassing!
A: 沒錯,真的有夠尷尬!
我壓力好大 I’m under so much pressure.
(X) I have a lot of pressure.
壓力好大不能直接翻成 I have a lot of pressure.,「處於壓力的情況下」的固定說法是 be under pressure,所以「壓力很大」就會說 be under so much pressure。
A: Argh, I’m under so much pressure.
A: 啊,我壓力好大喔。B: How come? Didn’t you just quit your job in the coffee shop?
B: 怎麼會?你不是把咖啡廳打工辭掉了嗎?A: Yeah, but final exams are coming and I also have to hand in a term paper by next Monday.
A: 唉,快要期末考啦,而且我還要在下星期一前交出期中論文。B: How’s your paper going then?
B: 那你的論文寫得如何?A: I haven’t even started yet!
A: 我根本還沒開始啊!
爆哭 burst out crying / burst into tears
(X) cry suddenly
你是哭點很低的人嗎?小編就有個容易「爆哭」的朋友,但爆哭並不是 cry suddenly,而是 burst out crying 或 burst into tears,反之「突然大笑」就是 burst out laughing 或 burst into laughter。
A: How was the movie?
A: 那部電影怎麼樣?B: Oh! It was very touching.
B: 噢!她的故事非常感人。A: Did you cry?
A: 你有在電影院哭嗎?B: Everybody cried! I burst into tears when the daughter was reunited with her mom.
B: 每個人都哭了!當我看到女兒跟媽媽團員團圓後我就抱哭了。A: No spoilers!
