讓我們一起來看看 Sam 跟 Tom 用英文聊聊暑假打算怎麼過吧！
暑假來囉！但是現在國外疫情嚴重，也不能出國，來看看 Sam 和 Tom 聊聊暑假打算做什麼吧！
Sam: Hey Tom, summer vacation is coming! Do you have any plans?
Sam: 嘿 Tom，暑假要來了！你有什麼計畫嗎？Tom: Well, all the plans I did have are on hold because of the COVID-19 outbreak.
Tom: 因為疫情爆發的關係，所以我之前的計畫現在都耽擱了。Sam: That’s true. Although a lot of events have been cancelled, I think so long as we are careful and protect ourselves, there’s still a lot to do.
Sam: 也是，雖然很多活動取消了，但是我想只要我們小心保護自己，我們還是有很多事情可以做。Tom: Yeah. What’s your plan?
Tom: 對啊，那你的計畫是？Sam: Last year, I made plans to go and do a working holiday in Australia this summer vacation. But now, due to Australia’s immigration controls, I can’t go. So, now I’m planning to find a part-time job, hopefully in a café or somewhere similar.
Sam: 去年，我就開始計畫今年暑假要去澳洲打工度假，但現在因為出入境管制我就沒辦法去，所以我現在打算找份打工，希望是在咖啡廳之類的。Tom: You’ll need to be very careful. You’ll encounter a lot of strangers in a job like that.
Tom: 那你一定要非常小心，因為這樣的工作會遇到很多陌生人。Sam: I know, almost every store or shop in Taiwan has regulations that say their employees must put on a mask—sometimes even gloves—if they are in contact with customers.
Sam: 我知道，而且現在幾乎所有台灣的商店都有規範員工跟顧客接觸時要戴口罩，甚至還有手套。
先來學學打工的英文怎麼說！
immigration control (n.) 入境管制
隨著疫情變得越來越嚴重，各國也祭出相關出入境相關政策來保護國民，而入境管制就是控制移民移入，因此可以這麼想：immigration 為名詞，表示「移民，移入」的意思，control 表示「控制」，兩者合一就是「入境管制」的英文喔！
Due to immigration controls, we can’t go to certain countries for the time being.
由於入境管制政策，我們從現在開始不能去特定國家。
part-time (n.) 打工
一般常見的 PT 其實就是 part-time 的縮寫，而 part-time 就是「兼職，打工」的意思，那麼反義詞就是 full-time ，也就是「全職」。
He’s trying to find a part-time job now to cover his living expenses.
他現在想找一份打工來支付生活費。
put on a mask (phr.) 戴口罩
mask 是名詞「口罩；面具」的意思，而「戴」口罩的動詞應該用哪一個英文單字呢？你除了可以用片語 put on，也可以用動詞 wear，兩者差別在於 put on 強調動作，wear 則強調狀態。
You need to wear a mask while taking public transportation.
搭乘大眾交通運輸時應該要戴口罩。
聊著聊著，Tom 也不禁在想他暑假可以做什麼…
Tom: I still have no idea what to do during the summer vacation. I was going to going to go to Europe with my family. Now I’m stuck at home here in Taiwan.
Tom: 我對暑假還是沒有任何想法，我原本打算要跟家人一起去歐洲旅遊。但現在似乎我只能待在台灣。Sam: Don’t be so pessimistic, Tom. There is plenty to see and enjoy in Taiwan. What about outdoor activities like hiking and climbing?
Sam: 不要太悲觀，在台灣還是有很多好玩好看的鴨，像是健行或登山之類的戶外活動呢？Tom: What if it turns out that the places I go to have also been visited by people with the virus? Then I’ll have to self-quarantine at home.
Tom: 如果我去的地方最後變成有感染的人去過呢？那我就要被要求居家隔離了。Sam: You’re just thinking too much. Even if that does happen, there’s still plenty to do if you are stuck in the house. For example, you can take online courses to learn something that you’ve always wanted to learn, or do some home workouts to keep fit.
Sam: 你想太多了啦，即使真的發生了，你還是在家還是有事情可以做，例如你可以上一些線上課程去學一些你一直都很想去學的東西，或是做一些居家健身維持身材。Tom: That’s true. Worrying about it won’t help. All I can do is to protect myself as best as I can.
Tom: 也是，想太多也無法改變任何事，我要做的就是盡可能地保護自己。Sam: If you want, we can look together for a part-time job over the summer vacation.
Sam: 如果你想要，我們可以一起找暑期打工。Tom: Sure!
Tom: 好呀！

self-quarantine (n.) 自主隔離
防疫期間常聽到的「自主隔離」意思是有和確診病例接觸者需要進行的隔離，其英文該怎麼說呢？quarantine 這個字可動名詞同形，表示「隔離」，前面加上 self (自己) 就是「自主隔離」的意思。
If you have visited the affected area, you have to self-quarantine at home for 14 days.
如果你有去染疫區域，你就必須在家自主隔離 14 天。
online course (n.) 線上課程
如果防疫期間不知道要在家幹嘛，上一些線上課程也挺好的，像是 VoiceTube HERO 或 VoiceTube Vclass 都是不錯的選擇！「線上課程」的英文很直覺地就是 online course，而「上」課的動詞英文可以用 take。
As Internet speeds increase, online courses are becoming more and more popular.
隨著網路的發達，線上課程也變得越來越盛行。
home workout (n.) 居家健身
即便防疫期間活動範圍受到限制，也別忘了在家也要維持身體健康喔！「居家健身」的英文就是 home workout，workout 為可數名詞，「健身」的意思，是由動詞片語 work out 衍生而來。
If you don’t have time to go to the gym, doing a home workout is a good alternative.
如果你沒有時間去健身房，居家健身也是個好選擇。
