但腳踏車的「座墊」、「把手」該怎麼說？
「輪子沒氣了」又要怎麼表達？
跟著 Angela、Becky、Lynn 三姊妹

美好的寒假結束前，Angela、Becky、Lynn 三姊妹決定去后豐鐵馬道騎腳踏車，Angela 和 Lynn 共騎一台協力車，Becky 則自己騎淑女車。
Angela: It’s my first time to ride a tandem bike. It’s taking a lot of effort to pedal.
Angela：這是我第一次騎協力車，踏板好重，而且我好像要出更大的力氣耶。Becky: Hey, that’s because the tires are underinflated. We should go back to the bike rental shop and inflate them.
Becky：嘿！那是因為你們的輪胎沒氣了。我們應該要騎回去租腳踏車的店幫輪胎打氣。(After inflating the tires, they ride on the Hou-Feng bike path.)
(打完氣之後，她們騎在后豐鐵馬道上。)Angela: Are we riding uphill? I’m huffing and puffing here.
Angela：我們現在是上坡嗎？我開始覺得氣喘吁吁的了。Becky: No. It just feels like that because Lynn behind you is slacking off.
Becky：沒，那是因為坐在妳後面的 Lynn 都在摸魚。Angela: Lynn, what am I?! Your slave? Get those legs going!
Angela：Lynn，我看起來像工具人嗎？請動動妳的腳好嗎。Lynn: You said you wanted slim calves yesterday, so I’m trying to help you!
Lynn：因為你昨天說你想要有纖瘦的小腿肚啊，我是在試著幫忙耶！(A stranger rings his bicycle bell as Angela and Lynn almost crash into him.)
(有個陌生人在 Angela 和 Lynn 快撞上他時，按鈴提醒她們兩個。)Becky: Cut it out! That’s so dangerous!
Becky：別鬧啦！這樣很危險！
真是虛驚一場！還好 Becky 有提醒他們倆才沒釀成大禍！
tandem bike (n.) 協力車
tandem 本身就是指「(兩人的) 協力車」，但後面通常還是會加上 bike 或 bicycle。協力車顧名思義就是兩人要同心協力，因此片語 in tandem 就衍伸為「同時地；聯合地；協同地」。
Riding a tandem bike is not as romantic as you think.
騎協力車沒有你想像得這麼浪漫。
underinflated (adj.) 沒氣的 / inflate (v.) (使) 充氣；膨脹
underinflated 這個字由動詞 inflate 衍伸而來，inflate 的意思是「(使) 充氣；膨脹」，其過去分詞可當形容詞，inflated，帶有貶意，指價格、成本「過高的」，加上字首 under- 變成 underinflated (沒氣的)，加上 over- 變成 overinflated (充氣充太飽的)。
If you inflate the balloon with helium, it will float in the air.
如果你用氦氣充氣球，氣球就會浮在空中。
huff and puff (phr.) 氣喘吁吁
huff 和 puff 都有「大力呼氣」的意思，組成動詞片語 huff and puff 後，可用來形容「喘大氣；氣喘吁吁」，特別用在運動之後，此外它還有另一個意思，指「大聲抱怨、反對」，此時意思相近的字為 complain。
Joan huffed and puffed as she finished the 100-meter dash.
在跑完 100 公尺短跑後，Joan 便直喘大氣。
slack off (phr.) 偷懶；摸魚
slack 可當形容詞，意為「懈怠的；不景氣的」，此外口語上也可以當動詞，表示「懈怠」，因此動詞片語 slack off 就是形容人在「偷懶；摸魚」。
Jenny is a workaholic! I never see her slack off!
Jenny 真是個工作狂！我從沒看她偷懶過！
後來 Angela 跟 Becky 一起騎協力車，輪到 Lynn 自己騎。
Angela: Phew! I’m sweating like a pig!
Angela：呼！我已經汗流浹背了！Becky: Shall we catch our breath in the pavilion?
Becky ：不然我們去涼亭喘口氣好了？(While Angela and Becky were resting, Lynn continues to enjoy herself while cycling.)
(Angela 和 Becky 在休息時，Lynn 仍非常自得其樂。)Lynn: Look! I can ride out of the saddle!
Lynn：妳們看！我可以不用坐在座墊上面騎耶！Angela: Sit down, unless you want to sprain your ankle.
Angela：坐好，除非妳想扭傷腳踝。Lynn: Look! I can ride a bike without holding onto the handlebars!
Lynn：妳們看！我不用握著把手就可以騎腳踏車耶！Becky: You’d better be careful, or you might face-plant!
Becky：你最好小心點，不然你會跌個狗吃屎！Lynn: Why do you two girls keep killing my buzz? I’m a skilled cyclist!
Lynn：為什麼我兩個姐姐都要一直掃我的興啊？我的騎車技巧可是很高超的耶！
sweat like a pig (phr.) 滿身大汗；汗流浹背
sweat like a pig 是用來形容人「滿身大汗；汗流浹背」，可不是在罵對方是豬哦！
I was sweating like a pig after a 20-minute core workout.
我做完 20 分鐘的核心訓練後就滿身大汗。
saddle (n.) 座墊
saddle 原本是指「馬鞍」，後來也指腳踏車、機車的「座墊」。對話中的 ride out of the saddle 意思是指「站姿踩踏」。
If the saddle is too high you can lower it.
如果妳覺得座墊太高，妳可以把它調低。
handlebars (n.) 車把；把手
handlebar 由 handle 跟 bar 組成，handle 有「把手」之意，bar 則可以指「條狀物」，因此 handlebar 就用來指機車、腳踏車的「車把；把手」，常以複數形出現。
On rainy days, riding with one hand on the handlebars while holding an umbrella with the other, is dangerous.
在雨天騎腳踏車時，一手握車把，一手撐傘很危險。
face-plant (v.) 跌個狗吃屎
face-plant 是比較口語的字，字面上看起來像是「把臉種到地上」，意思就是指摔倒時臉部著地，也就是「跌個狗吃屎」。
He face-planted while skateboarding.
他在溜滑板時跌了個狗吃屎。
killing sb.’s buzz (phr.) 壞了某人的興致
buzz 除了「嗡嗡聲」之外，還有「興奮；快樂」之意，所以片語 killing sb’s buzz 就是「壞了某人的興致」。名詞 buzzkill 則指「破壞興致的人/事/物」。
Don’t invite John to the party, he such a buzzkill.
別邀請 John 來參加派對，他總是會壞了大家的興致。
