然而每間博物館都會有自己的規矩…
可不可以照相？禁止飲食？置物櫃在哪？

Bob 終於來到了他夢想中的大英博物館 (The British Museum)，然而 Bob 有一些問題想問問館員，來看看他和館員的對話吧！
(At the information desk)
(在詢問櫃檯)
Bob: Excuse me, I have some questions.
Bob：不好意思，我有一些問題。
Counter staff: Yes?
櫃台人員：好的請說。
Bob: I have a box of fish and chips with me, I wonder if there’s any place in this museum where I can eat food.
Bob：我身上帶著一盒炸魚薯條，我想知道博物館內有哪裡可以讓我吃東西。
Counter staff: I’m afraid you are not allowed to consume any food inside the museum.
櫃台人員：很抱歉，博物館內禁止飲食。
Bob: I see. Are we permitted to use cameras inside the exhibition hall?
Bob：了解。那請問展廳內可以用相機嗎？
Counter staff: Yes, you may, as long as it is not for commercial purposes.
櫃台人員：是的，可以，只要不是作為商業用途。
Bob: Great. And one more question: where is the toilet?
Bob：太好了。還有一個問題，廁所在哪裡呢？
Counter staff: There’s one in the basement, and there is also one at the back of the museum near the Asian galleries.
櫃台人員：地下室有一間，在博物館後側靠近亞洲陳列館旁還有一間。
Bob: Thank you!
Bob：謝謝你！
為什麼 Bob 會帶著炸魚薯條去博物館啊哈哈哈，小 V 覺得困惑。先來學習新字吧！
allow (v.) 允許
allow 的意思是「允許；准許」，同義字有 permit。常用句型為 allow sb. to do sth. (允許某人做某事)、be allowed to do sth. (被允許做某事)。
You’re not allowed to talk during the exam.
考試期間禁止談話。
consume (v.) 吃，喝
consume 可以指「吃」或是「喝」，尤其指「大量地吃喝」，或是指「大量地消耗」，如：consume time (耗時間) 、consume energy (耗能)。
The big man consumed five hamburgers within 15 minutes!
那個大胃王十五分鐘內吃完了五個漢堡！
This charity project consumed a huge amount of the company’s budget.
這項慈善活動花了公司一大筆錢。
exhibition hall (n.) 展廳
exhibition 為名詞，意思是「展覽」，由動詞 exhibit (展示) 衍伸而來，常見搭配如 on exhibition (展出中)；hall 的意思則是「大廳」，因此合在一起 exhibition hall 即是指「展覽廳」。
Jimmy’s paintings were on exhibition in Madrid a few months ago.
幾米的畫作幾個月前在馬德里展出。
There are four exhibition halls on the second floor of this museum.
這棟博物館的二樓有四間展覽廳。
commercial (adj.) 商業的
commerce 的意思是「商業」，為名詞，它的形容詞形是 commercial。常見搭配用法 commercial purpose (商業用途)、commercial success (商業成功)、commercial publication (商業刊物)、commercial law (商法)。
The Economists published articles relating to commercial topics.
經濟學人出版商業主題相關的文章。
然而，commercial 也可以當做名詞，意思是「商業廣告」。同義字為 advertisement/ad。
Thai commercials are usually very creative.
泰國的商業廣告通常都非常有創意。
basement (n.) 地下室
basement 的意思是「地下室」，由 base (基底) + -ment 結合而來。
The basement is full of spiders.
地下室都是蜘蛛。
Bob 應該開始逛博物館了吧，來看看他還遇到了什麼事？
The security: Hold on, sir. You cannot bring your luggage into the museum.
保安：等等，先生。你不能把你的行李帶進博物館。
Bob: Sorry, I didn’t know that.
Bob：很抱歉，我不知道。
The security: It’s okay. There’s a locker next to the gift shop. You can stash your luggage there.
保安：不要緊。紀念品店隔壁就有置物櫃。你可以把行李放在那裡。
Bob: Thank you for telling me.
Bob：謝謝你告訴我。The security: No problem, sir.
保安：不客氣。(After Bob locked his luggage, he went to the first exhibition hall. He noticed a group of kids. They must have been on a field trip.)
(Bob 把行李鎖好後，前往第一展廳。在那裡他注意到了一群小孩。他們一定是正在校外教學。)
The teacher: Class, listen carefully. You may not touch any of the exhibits, and you must stay close to me.
老師：全班，仔細聽好，絕對不能碰觸任何展品，還有一定要跟緊我。
One of the students: I’m exhausted! (sitting on the floor)
其中一個學生：我累爆了！(坐在地上)
The teacher: Joseph! Stand up! You must not sit on the floor! Remember, class, no shouting and no chatting. Now, follow me.
老師：Joseph！站起來！你不能坐在地板上！大家記得，不准喧嘩聊天。現在跟我來。
hold on (phr.) 等一下
想請對方稍等或是留步時，可以用上 hold on，意思是「稍等一下」。另外 hold on 也可以表示「緊抓；堅持」。
Hold on! You haven’t paid!
等等！你還沒付錢啊！
locker (n.) 置物櫃
lock 動名詞同形，意思是「鎖」，因此 locker 即是指「附鎖的置物櫃」。
I put my backpack in the locker and headed for the roller coaster.
我把背包放進置物櫃然後去玩雲霄飛車。
gift shop (n.) 紀念品店
gift shop 直翻是「禮品店」，其實就是賣紀念品的店，亦稱作 souvenir shop，souvenir 即是「紀念品」。
There’s a gift shop in every museum.
每間博物館裡都有一間紀念品店。
I bought a postcard from the British Museum as a souvenir.
我買了一張大英博物館的明信片當做紀念品。
