你喜歡開派對嗎？
開派對時一定少不了吃的！
你在派對上都會吃些什麼呢？
來認識有趣的 potluck party 和派對相關英文用語吧！
有一天 Bob 正在家裡耍廢時，接到了一通電話…
Bob: Hello?
Bob：喂？
Henry: Hey, Bob! We’re having a potluck party this Saturday. Want to join us?
Henry：嘿，Bob！我們這週六要舉辦百樂餐派對，想參加嗎？
Bob: Sure, I’m in! But what is a potluck party?
Bob：好啊，算我一份！不過什麼是百樂餐派對啊？
Henry: It’s a kind of party where everyone has to contribute a dish. For example, I’m going to bring my homemade potato salad!
Henry：在這個派對上，每個人要貢獻一道菜。舉例來說，我要帶我自製的馬鈴薯沙拉！
Bob: Wow, cool! I’ve never been to a party like that before. So where is the party going to be held?
Bob：哇，酷耶！我從來沒參加過這種派對。所以派對會辦在哪裡？
Henry: At my place.
Henry：在我家。
Bob: At what time?
Bob：幾點？
Henry: At six o’clock in the evening. You may also bring your own drinks.
Henry：傍晚六點。你也可以帶上飲料。
派對！小 V 也很喜歡參加派對呢！不過和 Bob 一起去開趴前，先來認識這些單字吧！
I’m in. 算我一份
I’m in. 有「我加入；算我一份」的意思，另一個相同意思的說法是 Count me in.。相反地，「不參加」就可以用 I’m out.、Cout me out. 或是 I’ll pass 表示。
A: Are you coming to our trip tomorrow?
B: I’m in!
A：妳要參加我們明天的旅遊嗎？
B：我要！
contribute (v.) 貢獻
contribute 為動詞，意思是「貢獻；捐獻」。常用 contribute A to B 表示「把 A 貢獻給 B」。
She contributes 1,000 NTD to the Rodent Care Association every month.
她每個月捐一千塊到愛鼠協會。
homemade (adj.) 自製的
homemade 的意思為「自製的」，把它拆解開來就是 home (家) 和 made (被製作的)，「在家裡製作的」也就是「自製的」。
My hamster enjoys eating my homemade strawberry jam.
我的倉鼠很愛吃我自製的草莓果醬。
hold (v.) 舉辦
hold 除了有「握著；拿著」的意思，還可以用來指「舉辦；舉行」，如：hold an event (舉辦活動)、hold a vote (舉辦投票)、hold a meeting (舉辦會議)。
Tommy holds the bag for his mom every time they go shopping.
Tommy 幫他媽媽拿包包。The class held a vote to choose a class leader.
班上舉辦投票選出班長。
期待的週六到了！Bob 帶了什麼菜到 Henry 家呢？
Henry: Bob! Come in!
Henry：Bob！進來吧！
Bob: Thanks for inviting me. I’m really looking forward to this party.
Bob：謝謝你邀請我。我真的很期待這場派對。
Henry: Me too. So, what dish did you bring?
Henry：別客氣啦。所以你帶了什麼菜？
Bob: I hope you guys feel like eating soup because I’ve brought a pot of clam soup. There’s lots of ginger in it; it’ll certainly warm you up.
Bob：我在想你們會不會想喝湯，所以我帶了一鍋蛤蜊湯。裡面有很多薑，肯定能讓你們暖起來。
Henry: How thoughtful of you! It really is getting colder these days.
Henry：你好貼心！這幾天的確越來越冷了。
Bob: Indeed. I’ve also brought some tea bags, tapioca flour, and black sugar.
Bob：真的。我還帶了一些茶包、樹薯粉和黑糖。
Henry: What for?
Henry：做什麼的？
Bob: For making tapioca balls! We can brew some tea and put tapioca balls in it. Voila! Pearl green tea!
Bob：拿來做珍珠呀！我們可以泡一些茶然後放珍珠進去。噠啦！珍珠綠茶！
Henry: I thought tapioca balls could only go inside milk tea.
Henry：我還以為珍珠只會放奶茶裡耶。
Bob: Nope, my friend, it tastes good in all kinds of tea!
Bob：不不，我的朋友，它搭配各種茶都好吃！
look forward to (phr.) 期待
look forward to 的意思是「期待；盼望」，要注意的是 look forward to 後可直接接名詞，接動詞時要用動名詞 (Ving。
I’m looking forward to the meeting with my friends.
= I’m looking forward to seeing my friends.
我很期待和朋友的聚會。/ 我很期待見到朋友。
feel like (phr.) 想要
feel like 的其中一個意思是「感覺像…」，在這裡則是指「想要；渴望」，後頭可直接接名詞，或是接動名詞 (V-ing)。
Do you feel like a swim?
你想游泳嗎？Do you feel like going shopping?
你想去逛街嗎？
clam (n.) 蛤蜊
clam 就是「蛤蜊」。小 V 補充一個很有趣的片語：clam up (閉口不語)，想像像蛤蜊一樣嘴巴緊閉的樣子是不是很有畫面呢？
My cousin is allergic to clams.
我表弟對蛤蜊過敏。He’d just clam up if you ask him about his family.
如果你問他有關他家人的事情，他會乾脆完全不講話。
ginger (n.) 薑
ginger 的意思是「薑」，它也可以當做形容詞，意思是「薑黃色的」。
My sister refused to drink the soup because of the ginger.
我姐姐因為湯裡有薑就拒喝。Hermione has a ginger cat.
妙麗有一隻薑黃色的貓。
tapioca ball (n.) 樹薯球 (珍珠)
tapioca 的意思是「木薯；樹薯」，樹薯粉是製作珍珠的其中一個原料，所以珍珠又名「樹薯球」。
