tear-jerker (n.)
或寫成 tearjerker，指「賺人熱淚的人事物」，感人的電影、小說、故事、景象等都可以使用這個詞來形容喔！tear-jerker 前面常常加 real，有強調的意味。tear-jerker 是一個複合名詞，由 tear 和 jerker 組成，jerk 是「猛地一扯」的意思，「將眼淚拉出眼睛」就引申為「感人」之意。tear-jerker 這個字在 1911 年第一次出現，用來形容報紙刊登的悲劇報導。
I haven’t cried in ages, but that novel was a real tear-jerker!
我好久沒哭了，但那本小說實在太賺人熱淚了！
slow-moving (adj.)
指「劇情拖泥帶水的」，很慢才進入主題。
I dozed off during the movie since the plot was so slow-moving.
我看電影時不小心打瞌睡了，因為劇情實在太拖泥帶水了。

let-down (n.)
指「令人失望的事物」。let-down 是從片語 let sb. down 轉變而來，即「讓某人失望」的意思。
She thought that the Harry Potter spin-off movie was kind of a let-down.
她覺得哈利波特的衍伸作品有點令人失望。
over the top (adj.)
指「劇情不切實際、太誇張」的意思，同樣不只用來形容電影，小說、影集等有故事性的作品都可以使用。最早出現在第一次世界大戰，當時 over the top 是英國人用來形容步兵從戰壕中竄出，而準備攻擊敵人的景象，現今的延伸義則是從 1935 年開始使用。
The special effects in the action movie were way over the top. I don’t think swinging from one building to another is very realistic.
這部動作片的特效也太誇張了吧！我不覺得在高樓大廈間擺盪是可行的。

hilarious (adj.)
指「令人捧腹大笑的」，比 funny 的層次再高一點，有種 LMAO (laughing my ass off) 的感覺，若是說自己笑到翻過去，就可以說 I laughed my head off。hilarious 用法很廣，人事物都可以用這個字。通常 hilarious 會用來形容喜劇片 (comedies)，不過越來越多電影會在嚴肅的氣氛裡穿插搞笑的梗，這些片段可以說是 hilarious moments。
A: Do you wanna see the latest Deadpool movie?
A: 你想看最新的《死侍》電影嗎？B: I wouldn’t miss it for the world! I hope the sequel will be just as hilarious as the first one.
B: 我絕對不想錯過！只希望續集和第一集一樣好笑。
hard to follow (adj.)
顧名思義就是「難以理解的」的意思。
A: I recommend you watch the movie Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. The acting and editing couldn’t be any more perfect!
A: 我推薦你去看《諜影行動》，演技和剪輯真心超讚！
B: I’ve seen it before, but I can’t decide whether or not I liked it because the plot was so hard to follow.
B: 我看過了啦，但我不確定自己到底喜不喜歡，因為劇情好難懂啊！

be on the edge of one’s seat (adj.)
這個俚語有具象化的感覺，描述一個人坐不住、躁動的樣子，只能坐在椅子的前半部分，而無法靜下心來，延伸義就是「劇情很引人入勝」的意思。不管是劇情太恐怖、太刺激、太令人不安，都可以用這個字形容！
It was so scary! I was on the edge of my seat for the whole thing.
那部電影好可怕呀！寶寶我整場都坐立不安！
備註：一般來說，敘述對電影的看法，會使用過去式，像文中例子用 thought、were、was 等等，表看電影後，再回憶對電影的感想。使用過去式不代表現在的想法不同喔！只是習慣上以過去式來描述。
