今天來介紹上次沒提及的下半身與其他身體部位字根囉！
corp 身體
corp 在拉丁文是「身體」的意思，現今衍伸為「團體」的用法。
corporation (n.) 公司；企業；社團
trading corporation 是指「貿易公司」，public corporation 是政府經營的「公營公司」。和它拼法相近的單字是 cooperation，是「合作、協作」的意思，若要說「互助合作」則可以用 mutual cooperation。
The managing director decided to recapitalize the corporation.
總經理決定調整公司的資本結構。
corpse (n.) 屍體
corpse 和 corps 這二個字的拼音很容易混淆，注意 corpse 拼法多一個 e 喔！”living corpse” 就是所謂「行屍走肉」的意思。當災難發生時，警察或鑑識人員需要到事發現場進行勘驗，辨識屍體以確認死者的身分，這邊可以用 identify the corpse。corps 是指「軍團；兵隊；兵種」，marine corps 是海軍特種部隊。
The police surmised that the women has been dead for several days because the corpse gave off a repulsive smell.
警方推測這名女性死者已經死亡多日，她的屍體散發出令人反感的味道。
corporal (adj.) 肉體的；身體的
corporal 表示與身體相關的形容詞，易混淆字 corporeal 則是「物質的」，而在 corporeal 的前面加上表示否定的字首 in-，就變成 incorporeal「無實體的、非物質的」。這幾年和體罰相關的議題不曾間斷，體罰的說法是 corporal punishment。

dermatology (n.) 皮膚病學
-ology 是一個表達「學科」的字尾，像我們常聽到的 psychology 心理學、biology 生物學和 cardiology 心臟學。
Dermatology is an abstruse subject.
皮膚病學識一門艱深的學科。

hem 血液
hemal (adj.) 血液的
-al 是形容詞字尾，所以 hemal 就是與血液相關的。hemal nodes 是血淋巴結，node 是節點的意思。
Drugs may cause damage to cells tissue and hemal system.
毒品會讓組織細胞與血液系統遭受破壞。

ped/pod 腳
biped (n.) 二足動物；二足的
tripod (n.) 三角架

這幾個單字都和數字有關，bi- 是數字二的意思，biped 是「兩隻腳的」。tri- 指數字三的，tripod 是三角架。octo- 是數字八的意思。centi- 則是指一百，centipede 蜈蚣，也就是俗稱的「百足蟲」。milli 是指一千，馬陸是千足蟲。
pedestrian (n.) 行人；步行者；(adj.) 步行的
pedestrian 有幾種搭配詞，pedestrian area 是行人街、行人專區。pedestrian overpass 是人行天橋，而 pedestrian subway 就是地下行人道。
Passengers should cross the road by pedestrian overpass in order to avoid accidents.
為了避免意外發生，行人過馬路時應該要走天橋。
pedal (n.) 踏板；踩踏板；(adj.) 腳的；踏板的
汽車的油門稱為 gas pedal ；煞車踏板則稱為 brake pedal。backpedal 是動詞，指「倒踏腳踏板」，也有「後退、出爾反爾」的意思。
The pedal of this bike doesn’t seem to work. I think there’s something wrong with the screw inside.
這台腳踏車的踏板好像壞了，我想應該是裡面的螺絲有問題。
