這個片語後面可接 with someone or something。另外 get to 也可以用 reach 替代。

這個用法也有「奇怪」的意思，跟 out in left field 不同的是，out of left field 通常用來形容一個事件來的太快、毫無預警，令人有奇怪的感覺。而前者則是用來強調人或想法的古怪。
