當…時候（背景敘述）
E.g., As I was driving this morning, I saw an airplane flying by.
當我今天早上在開車的時候，我看到一台飛機飛過去。
E.g., As Jeff was watching TV, his wife was cooking.
當 Jeff 在看電視的時候他的老婆在煮飯。
上面的例句用 as 都是作為一種背景的敘述。
第一句，我們想說的「較重要」 訊息是「我看到一台飛機飛過去」。而「在開車」就只是用來描述當時那個看到飛機的狀況下所正在進行的事。
而第二句，我們的重點是 「Jeff 的老婆在煮飯」，而Jeff在看電視也只是用來描述他老婆在煮飯同時發生的事。不過什麼是「較重要的訊息」和「背景描述」沒有一定的規定，就只能靠句子的前後文意思來理解囉！
As… as… 和（像）…一樣
這可以是形容詞的比較，也可以是數量的比較。
E.g., I remember I was still taller than you three months ago, but now you are actually as tall as me!
我記得三個月前我還比你高，但是現在你居然已經和我一樣高了！
E.g., I have as many books as you (do).
我的書和你一樣多。
Not as… as… 比…不如
E.g., I need to put in more than my brother to get the same result because I am not as smart as him.
因為我不如我哥哥聰明，我要付出比他更大的努力來獲得一樣的成果。
E.g., Since we haven’t met for more than one year, Nicole and I are not as close as (we were) before.
因為我和 Nicole 多於一年沒有見了，所以我們現在沒有以前那麼熟。

as soon as 也同樣可以用在過去式（或未來式）
E.g., As soon as I left home this morning, the phone rang.

As well as (conj.) 也；又
E.g., I’m extremely busy recently. I have two presentations as well as three final exams next week.
我最近非常忙，下星期有兩個報告還有三個期末考試。
As far as (conj.) 就…而言
E.g., As far as I can think of, this is the best plan we have now.
