如何用英文預訂房間呢？ (Making a Hotel Reservation – English Phrases for making Reservation)
1. Explain your needs in detail 詳細說明你的需要
與旅館溝通時要提出具體的要求，不要無釐頭的講一堆對方聽不大懂的話。旅行業的業者看過各式各樣的狀況，而目標也是讓旅客住的高興與舒服。如果有老年人或者行動不變的人，可以要求靠近電梯的房間，大人帶小孩也可以要求相通的房間。如果飲食上有特別的需要，詢問一下旅館提供的餐飲，就不會沒有計劃的在外面找東西吃。
(O) We have two adults and three children under twelve, and we need a family suite, or two connecting rooms, for four or five nights starting on July 7th. My daughter is walking with crutches because she hurt her foot playing soccer. Please put in the request that we need to be close to the elevator, the children need separate beds, and a spacious bathroom.
我們有兩個大人和三個十二歲以下的小孩。我們需要一個家庭套房或者兩間連通房，住四或五個晚上，從7月7號開始。我女兒需要用拐杖走路，因為她踢足球腳受傷了。請注明在我們有需要靠近電梯的要求，孩子們需要單獨的床，還有寬敞的浴室。(O) And one more thing, my wife is a vegan. If breakfast is included, will there be a variety of food for her?
還有一件事，我太太是吃全素。如果有包括早餐，餐點會提供她均衡的食物嗎？(X) We have a family of 5, and need to stay for at least 4 nights. One of us is not really mobile. We do not want rooms that are separate, and don’t put us at the end of the hallway, that will be way too much trouble.
我們一家物口，需要住至少4夜。我們有一個行動不變，不希望房間是分開的，不要把我們放在走廊盡頭，那太麻煩了。(X) Will breakfast cost extra? Continental breakfast won’t be enough for us. Some of us eat meat, some don’t.

2. Safety is the top priority when you are traveling alone
一個人旅行時安全是最重要的
如果是一個人旅行，找在熱鬧地區的旅館會比較放心。可是在旺季時，很多大會都在相近的日期舉行，市中心旅館很可能很快就訂滿了。在城市外圍還是會有很好的選擇，可是最好研究一下當地的交通與安全。詢問旅館時可以請問附近的交通是否方便，可是不要問：「你們是不是在不好的區？」。
(O) I am calling to see if you have any rooms this Saturday, for one night? I need to attend a HR convention in Manhattan. Please tell me if you provide pick-up service at the airport, and are you within walking distance to the 36th Street subway station? And will it be okay for me to walk around the neighborhood at night?
我想請問這個星期六還有可以住一晚的房間嗎？我需要參加在曼哈頓舉行的人力資源大會。請告訴我旅館是否提供機場接機服務，以及是不是在第36街地鐵站的步行距離之內？還有我晚上在附近散步安全嗎？(X) Hi, do you have any rooms over the weekend. I can’t believe all the hotels in Manhattan are either booked or way too expensive. Please don’t tell me you are in a bad neighborhood. I don’t know how will I get to my meeting on the west side of Central Park from Brooklyn, can you tell me?
週末還有房間嗎？我不能相信所有在曼哈頓的旅館都沒有空房，要不然就是太貴了。拜託不要告訴我你們是在不好的地帶。我不知道我如何從從布魯克林到中央公園的西側開會，你能告訴我嗎？
3. Find out if the room rate changes over the weekend
問一下週末房價會不會變動
很多旅館週末的房價會上漲。如果週末兩天與平日三天的價錢一樣，可以考慮改變計劃。
(O) I was thinking about checking in on Thursday August 9th, and stay for three nights. But my schedule is flexible. If I check in on Monday August 6th, and stay for four nights, will the rate be less expensive? I prefer to stay longer if you can advise me of any promotions.
我本來想週四8月9號來，住三個晚上。但我的行程可以調整。如果我週一8月6號到，並住四個晚上，房價會比較便宜嗎？我寧願住久一點，請告訴我有沒有促銷價。(X) I am looking for a room for three nights or longer. I’ll be there the first or second week of August. I heard your rate goes up sky high during the weekends, is that true?
我想住三個晚上或更長的時間。我會在那裡八月的第一或第二個星期到。我聽說你的房價在週末會狂漲，那是真的嗎？
4. When there is a problem 不滿意的時候
櫃檯的服務員一定希望你拿來鑰匙以後，上樓看到房間是滿意的，如果過了幾分鐘，你出現在他們的面前，他們一定會有心理準備，想要解決你的困擾。如果要換房間，對方需要提供你同等級的招待，如果沒有辦法找到相同等級的客房，不可以要求你降級，而升級也沒有理由再與你收費。相對的，有問題也要心平氣和的與對方溝通，不要下了飛機沒多久就要找人吵架了。
(O) I just checked in. I am in 303. There must have been a mix-up. Housekeeping didn’t finish cleaning the room. The bed is not made, there is garbage, and the bathroom floor is wet. I am exhausted from my flight. Please assign me a different room that’s also nonsmoking with an ocean view.
我剛才入住在303。有一點誤會。清潔人員沒有打掃完全，床沒有鋪，洗手間的地板是濕的。我坐了12個小時的飛機，非常的累了。請給我另外的一個房間，也是要不吸煙與有海景的。(X) Excuse me! I don’t know what kind of business you guys are running. The room you gave me is disgusting!
