但其實意思卻是完全不一樣！

desert vs. dessert
1. 首先是發音，desert 唸 [ˋdɛzɚt]，重音在d；dessert 唸 [dɪˋzɝt]，重音在 s
2. desert n. 沙漠；adj. 沙漠的、荒蕪的
I am lost in the desert.
我在沙漠中迷路了。
3. dessert n. 甜點
This dessert is sublime!
這道甜點簡直是極品！
discreet vs. discrete
1. discreet adj. 謹慎的、慎重考慮的
He was very discreet, only saying what was necessary.
他是一個非常謹慎的人，只有在必要時才說話。
2. discrete adj. 分離的、離散的
Discrete mathematics is so hard!
離散數學超難的！
ensure vs. insure vs. assure
1. ensure v. 擔保、確保（某事發生或不發生）
Nothing can ensure the continuance of love.
沒有甚麼能保證愛情天長地久。
2. insure v. 為…投保
I was properly insured before the trip.
我在旅行之前已經保好保險了。
3. assure v. 向…保證，擔保（通常只具有信心能確保某事）
I can assure you of the reliability of the information.
我可以向你保證這道消息的可信度。
foreword vs. forward
1. foreword n. 前言、序
e.g. This thesis is composed of foreword and six parts.
這篇論文由一篇前言與六個部分組成。
2. forward adv. 向前；adj. 前方的
e.g. We never met from that day forward.
那天過後我們就再也沒見過面了。
loose vs. lose
1. loose adj. 寬鬆的
These pants are too loose for me.
這件褲子對我來說太寬鬆了。
2. lose v. 丟失
I lost my wallet with everything in it.
我把錢包弄丟了，而且我的所有東西都在裡面。
meter vs. metre
1. meter n. 儀表
Can I move my gas meter outside?
我可以把我的瓦斯表移到外面嗎？
2. metre n.〔英式〕公尺、拍子
This room is 24 square metres in area.
這個房間面積 24 平方米。
pour vs. pore
1. pour v. 倒、傾洩、大量湧入
Tourists pour into London in the summer.
在夏季時會有大量旅客湧入倫敦。
2. pore v. 凝視、沉思；n. 毛孔、氣孔
Cassie pored over the painting in silence.
Cassie 靜靜地凝視那幅畫。

sight vs. site
1. sight n. 視覺、視力
I just know him by sight.
我只是見過他，並不認識他。
2. site n. 地點、建地、部位
They finally selected two separate sites.
他們最後選了兩個不同的地點。
stationary vs. stationery
1. stationary adj. 不動、不增減的
The shadow remained stationary.
那道影子固定不動。
2. stationery n. 文具
Mark owns a stationery store.
Mark 經營一家文具行。
storey vs. story
1. storey n.〔英式〕樓層
A skyscraper has many storeys.
一棟摩天大樓有非常多的樓層。
2. story n. 故事
Grandpa often told me the stories of his life.
爺爺常常給我講他的人生故事。
wreath vs. wreathe
1. wreath n. 花圈、花冠
She is weaving the flowers into a wreath.
他正把這些花編成花環。
2. wreathe v. 盤繞、擰、用花環裝飾
The snake wreathed itself around the branch.
那條蛇盤繞在樹枝上。
