Either 的詞性
包含副詞、連接詞、代名詞和限定詞，
每一種用法都大不相同，
用得好的話，可以讓句子變得更精確、更通順。

Either 作副詞（adverb），表示「也」
Either 當作副詞時，用以補充相關訊息，並強調一個句子中的兩個子句內容同樣重要。當句子中一或兩個子句帶有「否定」意味時，就可以用 either 這個副詞，例如：「我們試過所有的方法，連你的也行不通。」或「我不太喜歡運動，而你也不喜歡。」對話中，當一方對某事表達否定意味，另一方可以 either 回應，以表示贊同。
John does not like the winter cold, and he does not enjoy the summer heat, either.
John 不喜歡冬天的寒冷，也不喜歡夏天的炎熱。
A: I can’t stand Tiffany anymore. She can never keep a secret!
A：我真是受不了 Tiffany。她真的很不會保守秘密！
B: Me, either! She is always like that.
B：我也是！她老是那樣。
Either 作連接詞（conjunction），表示「或者」
當 either 作為連接詞連接兩個句子時，需搭配 or 使用（either…or…），表示「不是 A 就是 B」，從兩個選項擇一的意思。你也可以將 either…or…接在帶有否定意味的字詞之後，表示這個否定適用於 either 之後的兩個選項，也就是「兩者皆非」的意思。要注意 either 和 or 後接內容的詞性或句構要一致。
A: How are you going to visit your grandparents this weekend?
A：你這週末要怎麼去探望爺爺奶奶？B: I can either take the train or drive.
B：我可以搭火車或開車。
A: Samantha left without saying goodbye!
A：Samantha 沒有說再見就走了！B: Either she was offended by your joke or she was rushing to run some errands.
B：她不是被你的玩笑冒犯，就是趕著去處理事情。
The talk show host failed to either break the ice or entertain the audience.
那名脫口秀主持人既沒有破冰也沒有娛樂到觀眾。
Either 作代名詞（pronoun），表示「兩者其一」
Either 也可以當代名詞的使用。當面對兩個選擇，而任一選項對我們來說都可以時，就用 either 來表示。
A: Do you prefer hot chocolate or hot latte?
A：你比較喜歡熱可可或還是熱拿鐵？
B: Well, either works for me.
B：嗯，我都可以。
There’s butter and jam to go with the bread, you can have either.
有奶油和果醬可以搭配麵包，你選哪個都可以。
Either 作限定詞（determiner），表示「兩者其一，兩者都」
最後，either 也可作限定詞使用，後面接單數名詞，表示兩個選擇。和作代名詞使用不同之處在於，當作為限定詞時，後面可接一個單數名詞選項，或者省略名詞單用「either」，表示「選擇了其中一樣」。
A: Look at these dresses! The green and the yellow are especially fabulous.
A：你看這些洋裝！綠色和黃色的這兩款特別好看。B: Go ahead and try them on! I’m sure you’ll look great in either (dress).
B：快去試穿看看吧！相信你不管穿哪件都會很好看。
I have a black hat and a red hat; you can borrow either (hat).
我有一頂黑色和紅色的帽子，你可以隨意借一頂。
