1. a number of 很多=many
the number of …的數量，數目
2. pass out 昏倒
pass away 過世/死亡
天阿！這個片語一定要小心使用，不然把昏倒的人講成過世的人就糟糕了！
例句：After hearing the terrible news, she passed out. 她聽到這個可怕的消息後，就昏過去了。
例句：Her son passed away in a car accident last year. 她兒子去年在一場車禍中身亡了。
3. Do you have the time? 請問現在幾點?
Do you have time? 請問你有空嗎?
請問別人現在幾點，如果不想再用 What time is it? 下次就試試看 Do you have the time?
不過要記得加 the 呦！不然變成 Do you have time? 就變成「請問你有沒有空？」了
例句：Excuse me, do you have the time? 不好意思，請問現在幾點？
例句：Do you have time? 你現在有空嗎？
No, I am quite busy now. 沒有，我現在有點忙。
4. lose heart 灰心，氣餒
lose one’s heart 喜歡上，傾心於
這組片語也是長的超級像啦！差一個所有格代名詞意思就完全不一樣囉。
例句：Don’t lose heart! Keep trying, I believe you can do it.
別灰心，繼續加油，我相信你可以做到的！
例句：He lost his heart to Claire as soon as he saw her dancing.
看到克萊兒跳舞當下，他就愛上她了。
5. take place 發生，舉行
take the place of 取代
take place當「舉行」的意思時，記得主詞要使用事件，不可以用人稱開頭當主詞，也沒有被動語態。
*I took place a party at home last night. (x)
The party took place at my home last night. (o) 我昨天在家裡開派對
至於take the place of ，則是「取代」的意思！
例句：Nowadays, e-mails have taken the place of written letters. 現在，電子郵件已經取代了手寫的信了。

6. a few 為數不多的，少許，幾個
a good few 相當多，很多 = quite a few
這組片語只差一個good就完全不一樣囉！
大家應該都知道 a few 是一些些，很少的意思，不過加上了一個 good是什麼意思？好一些些嗎？
錯了！a good few 就是「很多」的意思了。
例句：There are still a few problems which remain unsolved. 還有幾個問題還沒解決。
例句：A good few of the employees are not satisfied with their salary. 許多的員工對自己的薪水很不滿意。
