當動詞時 (v.)，k.k 發音是 /liv/
1. 生存

你是為活著工作還是為工作而活？
2. 生活，過日子。
He lives an abandoned life.
他過著放蕩的生活
3. 居住。
They live in the apartment above ours.

2. 目前大家感覺興趣的，當前的。a live issue 尚在爭論中的問題
當副詞時 (adv.)，發音是 /laiv/
現場直播，實況地。
The trial was broadcast live from the courtroom.
審判情況是從審判室實況轉播的。
life
這個詞大家應該比較不容易搞混，它當名詞 (n.)，有的意思有「生命, 生活, 一生, 壽命, 生命力」等等
除了歌曲，許多勵志的演講的主題都環繞著「人生」，不難聽到 your life, my life 等話語

這個詞常常跟 live 搞混，它是形容詞 (adj.)，意思是活著的、活潑的、有生氣的
Keeping someone alive like this is an affront to human dignity.
如此維持一個人的生命是對人類尊嚴的冒犯。Our dream keeps us alive.
夢想使我們活著
living
也有形容詞、名詞、動名詞的用法
1. adj. 活著的、現存的、在使用中的、逼真的。living creature 生物
2. n. 生計、生活方式。Make a living from … 靠….過生活、討生活
3. ger. 活、居住（當作 live 的現在分詞）像是：
My son is living abroad.
我的兒子住在國外。
may be vs. maybe
maybe
副詞，意思是「也許、可能」，像是 perhaps、possibly
Maybe she’ll come in the office this afternoon.
她可能今天下午會來辦公室。Maybe you left your laptop on the train.
你可能把筆電忘在火車上了。
may be
may 是情態動詞，be 是動詞原形，意為「也許是、可能是」，像是英文的 “might be” 或 “could be”。
I can’t find my watch. It may be in your pocket.
我找不到我的手錶了，它可能在你的口袋裡。I may be going out tonight.
我今晚有可能會出門。
all right vs. alright
這兩個又是怎麼分呢？先來看看這個影片吧：

all right
用法是 “acceptable for all forms of writing”，也就是在各種寫作裡，不管是書信、劇本、小說等等都可以用。
第一個意思是「適當地」
The room looks all right in the magazine.
雜誌裡面的房間看起來都相當妥當的。
第二個意思是「准許」，你如果想要進到別人房間，可以詢問。
Is it all right that I come in?
我可以進來嗎？
alright
通常是用在日常對話中，第一個意思是「好的」。
Alright! Alright! I’ll fix it!
好啦好啦我會處理!
第二個意思是「滿意地」。
Does my ass look alright in these jeans?
這條牛載褲穿在我身上 (屁屁) 好看嗎?
across vs. cross
across
是介係詞或副詞，也是度過、穿越的意思。
We walked across the street.
我們走到對街
cross
及物動詞, 是越過, 渡過的意思。
We crossed the street.
我們穿過馬路
意思相近，詞性以及使用場合有所不同，不同的地方是 across 本身不是動詞。所以要加上動詞，變成 “walked across” 來描述「用行走的方式穿越」。
all ready vs. already
all ready
關鍵字是 ready (adj) 指有準備的，all 只是在強調「全部」而不是「準備一半或稍微準備」。
Linda is all ready for her wedding tomorrow.
Linda 為她明天的婚禮準備妥當。
already
(adv.) 已經，指某事物早已發生。
When I arrived in the airport my plane had already taken off.
當我到達機場時我的班機已經起飛了。
anyone vs. any one
anyone
anyone 是不定代名詞，意為「任何人」(any person)，通常用於否定句、疑問句及條件句，當主詞用時，接單數動詞。
Did anybody hear of such a thing?
有誰聽說過這樣的事嗎?Anyone can cook because it’s easy.
任何人都會做飯，因為那很容易。
any one
Any one 是一個由 any 所修飾的代名詞或形容詞，意為「任何一個人」(any single person) 或「任何一件事情或一樣東西」(any single thing)
Any one of them may speak at the meeting.
他們任何人都可以在會議中發言。Linda has more work than any one person can handle.
琳達的工作量比任何人所能處理的工作量都要來得多。
raise vs. rise vs. arise
raise
raise 是及物動詞，後面要加受詞。
Raise your hand before asking a question.
問問題之前需要先舉手。
rise
rise 是不及物動詞，後面不用加受詞的。
The sun rises in the east.
太陽從東邊升起。
也可以當作名詞，意思為上升。
There is a general rise in prices in the late 60’s.
六零年代晚期價格發生普遍的上漲。
arise
arise 是「不及物動詞」，意思是「站立」、「起床」，慣常用法是指「事情的發生」。Arise from/ out of… 即「由…造成」。

beside vs. besides
這也是一組很讓人困惑的詞彙，我們來看影片裡的講解：

awake 作形容詞用，意即「醒着」
I was awake all night。
我一整晚都醒著。
wide awake 即「完全清醒的」；stay awake 即「保持清醒」。再用一首歌讓你印象更深刻：Katy Perry 的《Wide awake》大家有沒有聽過呢？
wake
也就是一般的動詞，意思是起床、喚醒。
Wake up!!!!!
起床！！（可以想像媽媽的聲音在耳邊環繞）
